The thunder was so intense on the porch that the windows were vibrating. I was MINDing my own business, enjoying a summer storm and the phone rang. I somehow knew that it was one of those phone calls… Later that night, I was making those calls; spreading sad news to my friends and family. My best friend’s mom died from a massive heart attack.
Everything feels so surreal in crisis…no matter what the crisis. Our mind plays tricks on us. We are spinning in the moment because it’s such a shock to our wiring and circuitry. One minute, life is chugging along on all cylinders and the next it’s not. Case in point: My friend went shopping with her Mom in the afternoon and planned her funeral at midnight.
Death reminds us to live in the moment. There’s no better wake up call to stay present, be in the moment and love NOW. Nicki Sixx says it best: Nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive. Life is beautiful. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=s9gbI5Hb8Cg
